Anti-corruption campaign | “Al-Asaish” seizes property of many Self-Administration employees in rural Al-Hasakah governorate

Al-Hasaka Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that “Al-Asaish” forces of the “Self-Administration” seized the property of a number of employees and officials of the “Self-Administration” accused of corruption cases in the city of al-Qamishli. About 15 days after the arrest of 14 officials from the city in addition to Derek in rural al-Hasakeh.

According to SOHR sources, the seizure included houses, cars, gold jewellery, real estate and others.

In the same context, very reliable sources have told SOHR that “Al-Asaish” and as part of its anti-corruption campaign, arrested a female employee, who is in charge of the finance for a number of institutions in the city of al-Derbasiya, including a chicken farm and a stone oven managed by the “Self-Administration” and a consumer organization for the sale of food.

On January 12, SOHR sources said that a large-scale anti-corruption security campaign took place in several areas under the control of the “Self-Administration” and SDF in north-eastern Syria. Special Forces launched raids and arrests in al-Qamishli, Al-Malikia (Derek), al-Darbasiya, Abu Rasin (Zarkan) and Tal Tamer.

The security campaign targeted employees and workers of the Self-Administration institutions, of those accused of corruption.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the Special Forces have arrested 14 employees so far in al-Qamishli and Al-Malikia, and confiscated their property, including cars, houses and gold.

This comes in light of the continued attempts by the Self-Administration and SDF to reduce the widespread corruption in their regions.

On December 26, SOHR sources confirmed that SDF security services continue arresting individuals whom “Syrian Democratic Council” (SDC) describes as “spoilers and disrupters”.

According to SOHR sources, the security services have launched several campaigns, arresting several capitalists in areas under the control of Autonomous Administration. The security services have arrested over 100 persons accused of corruption issues, referring those found guilty of corruption, abuse of influence and manipulation of public funds to special courts.

The campaign targeted officials on the Autonomous Administration’s installations and others in the private sector.
