Syrian desert | Russian jets pound the desert with over 40 airstrikes, as clashes continue with ISIS members in Homs countryside

SOHR activists say that Russian jets continue to execute airstrikes on the Syrian desert, coinciding with clashes between ISIS members on the one hand, and regime forces and loyal militiamen on the other, in al-Sokhna desert, east of Homs. ISIS members attacked military vehicles of regime forces in that area, resulting in casualties on both sides.

In 24 hours, fighter jets carried out more than 40 airstrikes, bringing the number of airstrikes to more than 170 in the last four days.

Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored clashes in al-Mayadeen desert, between regime forces and loyal militiamen one hand, and members of the Islamic State, amid artillery shelling by regime forces on positions in the desert, coinciding with the flight of drones over the area.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights had documented the deaths of five pro-regime militiamen during comping operations in search for ISIS cells, while 13 ISIS members were killed in Russian airstrikes.
