Anti-drug security campaign | Turkish-backed factions confiscate alcoholic beverages and narcotics in Azaz
Aleppo Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:
SOHR sources say that police officers in the anti-smuggling and drug department of the Azaaz Security Directorate in northern Aleppo countryside, confiscated quantities of narcotic pills and alcoholic beverages from a person’s home.
The Turkish-backed areas are witnessing a proliferation of many types of narcotic pills and alcoholic beverages coming from the regime-held areas in Aleppo.
On January 20, Turkish-backed factions confiscated a large amount of illicit pills coming from regime-controlled areas, as the factions said.
According to security services of the 3rd Corps operating under the banner of the “National Army”, over 900,000 pills of “captagon”, hid in home heaters, were found while inspecting trucks at the border security detachment of Al-Hamaran in the eastern countryside of Aleppo.
In mid-January, reliable sources told SOHR that factions operating under the banner of the Turkish-backed “National Army” agreed, a few days earlier, on conducting joint patrols comprising members of all factions in areas controlled by “Euphrates Shield” and “Olive Branch” operations rooms in Aleppo countryside in order to control security situation, as they claimed. However, SOHR sources confirmed that the factions’ plan to conduct joint security patrols were frustrated because of the disagreements between “Sultan Murad Division” and “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah”, as “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” refused to allow any military powers of the “National Army”, particularly “Sultan Murad”, to enter Azaz city.
A day earlier, reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that Turkish intelligence arrested the nephew of the commander of the “Sultan Murad Division” in Hawar Kals area near the Syria-Turkey border in the northern countryside of Aleppo, after seizing four kilograms of narcotic substances in his possession.
