Deir ez-Zor | SDF storms river crossings in eastern countryside, confiscating materials for smuggling

Deir ez-Zor province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR activists say that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) raided today the river crossings on the Euphrates River in the town of Al-Shuhayl in Deir ez-Zor countryside, confiscating two trucks loaded with scrap intended to be transported to areas controlled by regime forces on the opposite side of the river.

On the other hand, SDF released a number of smugglers and workers at river crossings, after being arrested earlier during security operations to prevent smuggling in the area.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that a security group of Syria Democratic Forces stormed Al-Latwa neighbourhood in Theban town, then the group stormed river crossings used for smuggling goods to regime-held areas on the Euphrates river’s opposite bank. The security forces have clashes with smugglers near the river crossings, but no casualties have been reported.

On January 22, SOHR sources Syria Democratic Forces continued their security campaigns in Deir Ezzor countryside, as a group of their security services stormed a river crossing used for smuggling in Al-Shuhayl town and opened fire on regime posts on the Euphrates river’s opposite bank in Buqrus town.
