North of Raqqa | Turkish forces and proxy factions shell villages of Ain Issa countryside and “M4” road

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored artillery shelling by Turkish forces and proxy factions on the village of Ma’alaq and the outskirts of the town of Ain Issa, and positions on the Aleppo-Hasakeh road “M4”. No casualties have been reported.

Syrian Observatory activists have documented the injury of a civilian, after being shot by Turkish forces near the eastern frontlines of Ain Issa district in northern Al-Raqqah. The civilian was shot while he was heading to Tal Tamr at a time when a Turkish military column was passing in the area.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported Turkish shelling on Sayda village and the “M4” highway in the countryside of Ain Issa, north of Al-Raqqah, but no casualties were reported.

On January 23, Syrian Observatory activists monitored renewed clashes with heavy and medium weapons between Turkish-backed factions and SDF, on the frontlines of Jahbal and Al-Mushayrifah village in the east of Ain Issa. The clashes followed an infiltration attempt by the Turkish-backed factions into SDF positions. However, no casualties were reported.

SOHR sources had reported bombardment by Turkish forces and their proxy factions, with heavy artillery and mortars, on the villages of Jahbal and Al-Mushayrifah on the “M4” international highway, to the east of Ain Issa silos in the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah. The Turkish bombardment coincided with clashes with medium and heavy weapons on frontlines of the two villages.
