Al-Asayish continues besieging regime-held areas in cities of al-Hasakeh and al-Qamishli, and regime forces besiege Al-Shehaba area north of Aleppo

SOHR sources say that regime forces and their security services continue to besiege the areas held by Kurdish forces in the towns and villages of the northern Aleppo countryside, known as Al-Shehaba area. The checkpoints of the 4th Division and Air-Force Intelligence prevent the entry of flour, fuel and medicine to these areas, and impose large levies on vegetable cars in return for their entry.

Meanwhile, regime checkpoints around Sheikh Maqsood neighbourhood are also checking the civilians’ IDs, forcing civilians to wait in long lines to enter the Sheikh Maqsood neighbourhood.

On the other hand, the Internal Security Forces continue to besiege regime-controlled neighbourhoods in the security zones in the cities of al-Hasakeh and al-Qamishli for the 18th day in a row, where Internal Security Forces demand the lift of siege on the areas of Al-Shehaba.

Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored popular discontent in the neighbourhoods controlled by regime forces in the city of al-Hasakeh. Hundreds of residents staged a vigil in front of the justice palace in the city of Al-Hasakeh, rejecting the siege of SDF on areas held by members of the regime forces, and prevention of necessities of life from entering these areas.

Furthermore, “Al-Asaish” continues its siege for the 17th consecutive day, as the “Asayish” besieges the security square in Al-Qamishli, the neighbourhoods of Halco and Tay, the side streets and other areas, and prevents the entry of all supplies and fuel, in addition to preventing emergency cases.

Syrian Observatory activists had monitored growing tension in Al-Hasakah city in Al-Hasakah, while regime forces and loyalists in the security zone and Asayish Forces encircling the zone are seen being put on high alert. On the other hand, regime loyalists have staged a demonstration, demanding Asayish Forces lift siege imposed on security zone in Al-Hasakah, where the protestors headed to checkpoint of Asayish Forces on the outskirts of the security zone. Asayish Forces therefore fired live bullets in the air in order to keep protestors away from approaching their checkpoint, while several protestors pelt Asayish Forces with stones.

Observatory activists reported that the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) cordoned off the entire security zone, which is under the control of regime forces in Al-Hasakah city, after them preventing civilians from traveling from and to regime-controlled neighbourhoods. It is worth noting that Asayish Forces had allowed civilians to travel between areas under their control and regime-controlled areas in Al-Hasakah only on foot.
