Car-bomb attack | Explosion in Afrin city leaves over 15 casualties

Aleppo Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR sources have reported a car-bomb explosion, this afternoon, in Al-Sena’a neighbourhood in Afrin city, which is under the control of Turkish forces and the factions of “Olive Branch” operations room in the north-western countryside of Aleppo. The explosion has left large number of casualties, as SOHR initial reports confirm the death of two people, including a child, and the injury of 16 others. It is worth noting that Al-Sena’a neighbourhood is a crowded area with many shops and large number of civilians and passers-by.

It is also worth noting that this blast is the most violent one and the first car-bomb explosion in Afrin in 2021.

On January 28, SOHR activists reported an explosion in rural Afrin caused by an IED explosion at a police checkpoint at Sharan-Belbel junction. The explosion left three police officers injured, some seriously.
