Ceasefire violations | Russian jets strike positions in Idlib with high-explosive missiles

Syrian Observatory activists have confirmed that Russian jets executed several airstrikes using high-explosive missiles on several positions, believed to be military positions, nearby Armanaz town in the western countryside of Idlib. No further details have been reported yet about the number of casualties and material damage. Meanwhile, reconnaissance drones were seen flying over the area.

It is worth noting that this is the second round of Russian airstrikes in two consecutive days, as SOHR sources reported yesterday that Russian fighter jets executed three airstrikes at least on the north-western countryside of Idlib, targeting military positions in the north-west of Harbanoush village and the surrounding areas of Qurqania village. These airstrikes, which left several rebels injured, were the first Russian aerial operations on the “de-escalation zone” since early December 2020.

On December 7, SOHR activists reported an airstrike by Russian jets on the Sheikh Bahr area in the north-western countryside of Idlib province. No casualties were reported. The Russian raid coincided with the flight of Russian reconnaissance drones over Jabal al-Zawiya, south of Idlib.
