In order to deploy near Syria-Iraq border | “Al-Haj Qassem Soleimani” militia heads from Aleppo to Al-Bokamal
Deir Ezzor Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable sources in Al-Bokamal city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor have informed SOHR that a recently-formed militia has arrived in the city from Aleppo province.
Tens of members of the Iranian-backed militia “Al-Haj Qassem Soleimani Regiment”, which had been established a few months ago in Nebl and Al-Zahraa areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo and comprising local Shiite fighters, have been seen arriving in Al-Bokamal city with the aim to boost and be deployed at Iranian militias’ posts in the area from Al-Bokamal desert to the Syria-Iraq border.
On February 3, reliable sources in Al-Mayadeen city in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside informed SOHR that the commander of the IRGC-backed brigade of “Al-Sheikh”, known by his initials as (A.A.), met with the dignitaries and elders of the tribes of “Akidat, Al-Mashahda, Al-Baqqara, Al-Qali’een, Al-Busaraya, Al-Qara’an and Al-Juhaysh” at his guest house located on the Corniche street near the water station in the city of Mayadeen. According to Syrian Observatory sources, the commander of the pro-Iran “al-Sheikh” Brigade informed the attendants that he was personally delegated by the leadership of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to ask the tribes of the region to form proxy forces affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, consisting of tribesmen from the region.
“Al-Sheikh” brigade’s commander added that the leadership of the Revolutionary Guard would provide military and material support to these tribesmen, and he explained to the elders of the tribes that the task of these tribal forces would be to support Iranian militias only in their military operations in the region. The commander concluded his meeting with tribal elders by having a dinner and promised to coordinate direct meetings between the IRGC leadership and tribal elders.
