ISIS resurgence | Unknown gunmen attack Asayish checkpoint in western Al-Raqqah

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that unknown gunmen believed to be of ISIS cells opened machinegun fire on a checkpoint of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in the western countryside of Al-Raqqah, amid reports of casualties among Asayish Forces stationed at Kabsh Gharbi checkpoint. It is worth noting that this area experienced IED explosions in the recent days.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that unidentified gunmen attacked a SDF military post in the town of Al-Shuhayl and clashed with the post’s members, but no casualties were reported. In the meantime, SDF launched a combing operation in the surrounding areas of its military post.

Meanwhile, the SDF managed to seize a car-bomb inside a car wash in the town of Muhimida in western countryside of Deir Ezzor, which was intended to target SDF posts in the area.

This development came in light of security chaos and ISIS cells’ escalating operations in SDF-held areas.
