Russian attack | Surface-to-surface missiles hit oil refineries area in Aleppo countryside, leaving casualties

SOHR sources say that the Russian base “Hamimim” fired surface-to-surface missiles towards Aleppo countryside, where an explosion was heard in the area of al-Sharashir in Jabla countryside. It is not yet known whether the explosion was caused by the rockets hit the ground, or the explosion of propellants in the sky of the area, coinciding with unknown explosions in the military academy in the area of al-Ramousa in Aleppo.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored explosions that rocked the area of the oil refining in the village of Tarhin, south of Jarabulus in eastern Aleppo countryside, as a result of the fall of at least two surface-to-surface missiles, which killed two people and injuring others, some seriously.

SOHR activists have just said that unidentified missiles hit oil refineries in Tarhin area in northern Aleppo countryside, resulting in injuries and fires in the area.

According to some sources, the military academy in Aleppo targeted the oil refineries area with several rockets, while other sources have said that Russian forces fired these rockets from the Hmeimim military base.

On January 9, large blazes broke out in primitive oil refineries near Tarhin village in areas under the control of Turkish-backed factions in the northern countryside of Aleppo. Reports suggest that the blazes were caused by a strike by an unknown drone which was seen flying over the area.

On January 2, reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that an unidentified drone targeted the vicinity of Um Jaloud crossing, which separates areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions from the areas held by Manbij Military Council Forces near Manbij city, east of Aleppo city. No casualties were reported.

While on December 28, SOHR sources reported an explosion near Al-Hamran commercial crossing near the city of Jarabulus within areas held by Turkish-backed factions in north-east Aleppo province, as a homemade drone targeted a truck, causing material damage.

Similarly, on December 20, SOHR activists reported hearing several explosions in Tarhin area which is under the control of Turkish-backed factions in the countryside of Al-Bab city in northern Aleppo. The explosions were caused by airstrikes by a drone which dropped several bombs on the area of the primitive oil refineries. The attack caused material damage and fires, but no casualties were reported.

On October 23, SOHR activists documented the death of seven civilians as a result of high-explosive rockets fired from the Russian base of “Hmeimim”, targeting oil market and primitive refineries in Al-Kusa village near Jarabulus city in areas under the control of Turkish-backed factions in north-eastern Aleppo.
