After the withdrawal of some regime forces’ groups | Dozens of soldiers station in governmental centres in Tafas city

Daraa Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored a group of regime forces consisting of 30 soldiers, stationing in the police station in Tafas city in Daraa, and another group in similar number was stationed in the city hospital, while the rest of the groups that entered the city this morning withdrew, in line with the Russian-sponsored agreement between the regime forces, the security committee and the Central Committee.

Hours ago,SOHR sources have reported that regime forces and pro-regime media outlets entered the al-Hal market, the southern neighbourhood and some government headquarters in Tafas city in western countryside of Daraa governorate, in accordance with the Russian-sponsored agreement between the Central Committee and the Security Committee.

Two days ago, reliable sources informed SOHR that regime forces, escorted by representatives of the “Central Committee” in Daraa, continued combing and inspecting farms and houses nearby Tafas city in the western countryside of Daraa as a part of implementation of the agreement reached yesterday. According to this agreement, former opposition fighters are supposed to withdraw from the governmental headquarters they are stationed in.

Yesterday, Observatory sources reported that an agreement was reached between the negotiating parties represented by the Central Committee and officers of the Security Committee in Daraa, in the presence of a representative of the Russian forces.

The agreement, which announced the end of the negotiations, allowed regime forces and the 4th Division to search homes and farms near Tafas city, starting from Tuesday morning in the presence of the residents and elders of the area to ensure that there would be no violations against civilians and their property.

The agreement also provided for the reopening of government buildings and regime institutions in the city, without setting a timetable.

On January 26, reliable sources in Daraa province told SOHR that an agreement reached, under Russia’s sponsorship and guarantees, defusing the recent state of tension in Tafas city in the western countryside of Daraa and ordering the handing over of the heavy weapons in the possession of former opposition fighters and commanders in the city. According to the new agreement, no one would be forced to displace to north Syria, except for only one commander called “Abu Tareq Al-Subayhi”. Al-Subayhi is a prominent commander from Ataman town in western Daraa, and was supposed to be deported to north Syria with former fighters and commanders who wanted to leave Daraa. The agreement was reached after a protracted meeting in Tafas attended by representatives of the Russians, the Russian-backed 5th Corps, the central committee in Hawaran, and the regime-backed 4th Division.

On the other hand, SOHR sources reported that the flights by regime fighter jets over the western countryside of Daraa were just a massage to the ex-fighters in the region with the aim to scare them.
