“Criminal Bashar al-Assad’s place is in international courts, not running for election” | People hold demonstration against presidential elections and Syrian regime in Idlib city

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored, this afternoon, a demonstration in the city of Idlib, staged by the locals and the people displaced by the military operations of the Syrian regime and its Russian ally. The demonstrators condemned the upcoming presidential elections in Syria, demanding the overthrow of the regime and the trial of Bashar al-Assad, stressing the constants of the Syrian Revolution.

The demonstrators carried placards, some of which read, “The criminal Bashar al-Assad’s place is in international courts, not running for election.”

Two days ago, Syrian Observatory activists monitored tens of demonstrations in Al-Bab and Azaz cities in Aleppo countryside under the slogan “No legitimacy for Al-Assad or his elections”. The demonstrators asserted on the continuity of the “Syrian Revolution” and expressed their rejection of Syrian regime and the presidential election.

On January 25, SOHR activists monitored dozens of residents staging a demonstration in Azaz, Al-Bab, Afrin and Idlib city, expressing rejection of the Constitutional Committee. The demonstrators carried placards which read: “we demand transitional governing body before the constitution, Al-Bahra does not represent us, the continuation of the Constitutional Committee legitimizes Assad’s elections, and the Constitutional Committee is an attempt to circumvent resolution 2254.”

The demonstrators also demanded the release of detainees in Syrian regime prisons.
