“By looting people of Afrin or stealing mercenaries’ money?” | Abu Amasha’s commercial projects raise questions among people in Afrin countryside, northwest of Aleppo

SOHR sources say that the Ankara-backed “Suleyman Shah Division” opened a “mall and café” in Sheikh Hadid area in Afrin countryside in north-west Aleppo, sponsored by the Division’s leader Mohammed al-Jassim known as “Abu Amsha” and in the presence of the Turkish Governor of the district and other personalities. It was promoted that the mall and café will be under the service of Arab and Kurdish people.

Abu Amasha has also opened a hospital in the same area in the presence of the president of the opposition Syrian Coalition and the Minister of Defense of the Interim Government and other personalities. The opening of the café and mall has triggered discontent among civilians and military personnel. Amid accusations that Abu Amsha’s projects came from money stolen by him and his faction from Afrin people, who refused to leave their areas, and the loot of the properties of the area, as well as the theft of the money of the “mercenaries” sent by Abu Amsha to Libya and Nagorno Kara Bag, where more than half of the fighters’ monthly salary is deducted.

Yesterday, SOHR sources said that a delegation of the “Syrian Opposition Coalition” and the “Syrian Interim Government” visited the headquarters of the “Sultan Suleiman Shah” Division in Afrin area in north-western Aleppo countryside, as part of the delegation’s tour there yesterday.

Nasr Al-Hariri, the leader of the Coalition, and Salim Idris, the “Minister of Defense” and other figures, met with Mohammed al-Jassim “Abu Amsha”, the leader of the “Suleiman Shah” faction, at a time when Afrin is witnessing daily violations against the remaining of its people who refused to leave their area.

Despite the formation of the so-called “Ombuds Committee” to restore the rights to its people in Afrin, chaired by Nasr Hariri, and its claims that it has restored many rights, daily violations continue. Where “Ombuds Committee” has only confirmed what the Syrian Observatory has repeatedly pointed out regarding violations against Afrin’s indigenous population.
