Al-Bab | One person killed and others injured in fierce clashes between one of al-Bab’s largest families and Ankara-backed civilian police

Aleppo Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored fierce clashes in the city of Al-Bab, which is under the control of Turkish forces and factions of operation of “Euphrates Shield”, east of Aleppo, between gunmen of one of the families of the city and the civilian police, following the arrest of a family member by the civilian police.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the clashes resulted in the death of a family member and injuries on both sides, while the movement within the residential neighbourhoods in al-Bab was stooped and the shops were closed for fear of indiscriminate gunfire.

On July 28, SOHR sources said that the Turkish-backed military police and factions of the “National Army” launched a new security campaign in Al-Bab city in the north-eastern countryside of Aleppo.

The security campaign, which came with the purpose of arresting several suspicious for “corruption and gun possession”, sparked fierce clashes between the rebels and military police on one hand, and gunmen from “Aal Waki” family (a prominent family in Al-Bab city) on the other. The clashes, accompanied by exchange of fire, ignited a state of panic among the city’s residents.
