Old ordnance | Landmine explodes killing young man in Darra countryside

 

Daraa Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented today the death of a young man from Kafr Nasij town in Daraa countryside, as a result of the explosion of a landmine left over from the war, in the vicinity of the town of Aqraba in the province countryside, while grazing sheep in the area.

An increasing number of people killed recently by a landmine, unexploded bombs, and collapse of war-damaged residential buildings in various Syrian areas and cities such as Homs, Hama Deir Ezzor, Aleppo, and southern Syria.

 

The Syrian Observatory has documented since January 2019 to date some 435 fatalities, including 71 women and 143 children. Of the total number, the Syrian Observatory documented the deaths of 47 people, including 30 women and five children, in their search and collect for “Syrian wild truffles”, which put their lives at risk, “Syrian wild truffles” grow in areas that are exposed to heavy rains and are sold at high prices.
