To exert pressure on SDF | Russian forces pretend to withdraw from their military base in Tel Tamer countryside in al-Hasakeh

Al-Hasaka province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources have denied the reports of Russian forces withdrawing from their military base in the area of “Al-Baqir” in Tal Tamer countryside in the north-west of al-Hasakeh province, where Russian forces remain at the base.

According to SOHR sources, four broken down Russian vehicles were transported to al-Qamishli this morning, and Russian forces packed their equipment and gathered all the members and guards of the post and sent them into the base, pretending to withdraw from the military base in order to exert pressure on SDF. Because of the SDF’s rejection of Russia’s demands to stop responding to Turkish ground shelling in the area. In addition, the Russian discontent over the U.S. movement with SDF in the Tel Tamer area, and the recent U.S. preparations for the establishment of a military base in Ain Dewar area in al-Hasakeh countryside.

On February 17, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored Russian forces conducting a military patrol from al-Qamishli airport to the Syrian-Turkish border in Rmilan countryside. The patrol roamed the areas of Karki Laki, Derna Aghi and Ain Dewar and Banah Qasr, while two Russian helicopters were seen flying over the area.

A few days ago, the Syrian Observatory monitored Russian reinforcement consisting of ten vehicles coming from al-Qamishli, which arrived at Russian base in al-Baqir area in the town of Tal Tamer, north of Hasaka.
