Armed fight | Clashes erupt among groups of “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” in Tel Abyad, leaving several militiamen injured

SOHR sources have reported an armed fight among military groups of the Turkish-backed “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah”in Tel Abyad city on the Syria-Turkey border in the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah. According to SOHR sources, the clashes left three militiamen injured, amid a state of panic among the residents, as the clashes took place in residential neighbourhoods.

On February 19, SOHR sources monitored the Turkish-backed “Al-Hamza Division” and the “Civil Police” being put on high alert in Ras Al-Ain city (Sere Kaniye) in “Peace Spring” areas in Al-Hasakah countryside. According to SOHR sources, the reason behind this security tension was the Turkish forces’ decision of handing over all checkpoints in Ras Al-Ain city to the “Civili Police”, at a time when military formations affiliated to “Al-Hamza Division”  refused to hand over their checkpoints. Moreover, the “Civil Police”, backed by residents, were attempting to take over the border crossing between Ras Al-Ain city and Turkey, which was controlled by “Al-Hamza Division”.
