Nearly 25 regime soldiers killed and missing | ISIS continues attacks in the Syrian desert despite intensive Russian airstrikes

Military operations continue in scattered areas of the Syrian desert, as SOHR sources reported that Russian jets have executed intensive attacks on ISIS positions in Al-Shawla desert in Deir Ezzor province and other positions in Aleppo-Al-Raqqah-Hama triangle.

Meanwhile, the intensive Russian airstrikes, which reached 90 in the past 24 hours, have not hindered ISIS attacks on regime forces and loyal militias, as ISIS managed to kill nine regime soldiers and loyalists in surprise attacks in Aleppo-Al-Raqqah-Hama triangle. Also, communication has been lost with another group of 12 regime soldiers and it is not known yet if they were captured by ISIS or lost their way in the desert.

It is worth noting that three regime soldiers and loyal militiamen were killed yesterday in the explosion of a landmine planted by ISIS in Al-Mayadeen desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. On the other hand, SOHR activists documented the death of ten ISIS members in yesterday’s airstrikes by Russian jets on the eastern desert of Hama and Deir Ezzor desert.

Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR has documented the killing of at least 1,352 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least two Russians, and 145 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Homs, and Al-Suwaidaa.

Also, four civilians working in gas fields, 11 shepherds and four other people were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 764 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardment in the same period.
