What do the photos of Asmaa Al-Assad do in government departments, and in what official capacity is she trying to prosecute Rami Makhlouf?!

In light of the split in the Syrian regime, as a group has chosen the Russians while the other group is on Iran’s side, Asmaa Al-Akhras, the regime president’s wife, has informed cronies close to the ruling class that she intends to prosecute Rami Makhlouf, Bashar Al-Assad’s tycoon cousin, for “tax evasion, embezzlement of the state funds and formation of an armed militia”.

Such development raises many questions like the following:

  • Why have not the authorities of Al-Assad’s regime prosecuted Mohammed Al-Jaber and Ayman Al-Jaber, the founders of “Suqur Al-Sahraa” and Maghaweer Al-Bahr” militias, tens of commanders of other armed groups operating as ally forces of the Syrian regime, and other figures close to the “First Lady”, who have participated in repressing the “Syrian Revolution” and tortured both oppositionists and loyalists?!

  • In what official capacity is Asmaa Al-Akhras trying to prosecute any person or entity in Syria?!

  • Which party does propagandize Asmaa, who was born in London the “Capital of Democracy”, and propagate her photos in cultural centres and in the building of the Ministry of Education in Syria?! Are the Russian the ones do so?!

It is common knowledge now that the “corrupt” businessman Rami Makhlouf is on Iran’s side, and his with Al-Assad’s family have become the hit of social media, especially with the successive videos he has recently published after being marginalized.

On September 25, 2020, reliable SOHR sources confirmed that regime security services released most of the individuals arrested during the recent security campaign which started in late April 2020, including officers, regime soldiers, managers, employees, technicians and fighters working for businesses and associations belonging to Rami Makhlouf.

According to SOHR sources, regime security services released 185 persons in the past 48 hours, while 12 others (nine employees and three officers and soldiers) remained imprisoned. The released individuals are as follows:

  • Regime officers and soldiers: 58

  • Employees working for Rami Makhlouf: 98

  • Ex-fighters in the military wing of “Al-Bostan Association”: 57

  • Other employees, managers, and technicians: 41

It is worth noting that this release came at a time when tens of thousands of anti-regime activists and oppositionists detained in regime intelligence services’ prisons.
