Hours after being arrested | Regime forces release former leader of Daraa’s opposition factions in Jassim city

Daraa governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that regime forces released a former member of the opposition factions of Daraa, hours after he was detained today, as youths tried to siege the cultural centre, which has became a security headquarters belonging to State Security in Jassim city in northern Daraa countryside.

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that Jasem city in the northern of Daraa experiences growing security tension, after regime security services arrested an ex-commander in the city. Gunmen from Jasem city later encircled the building of the “cultural centre”, the headquarters of the State Security branch in the city, with the aim to exert pressure on regime forces to release the commander.

SOHR sources reported earlier today several attacks carried out by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Saturday morning, targeting checkpoints and military posts of regime forces and security services in Al-Sanamayn city in the northern countryside of Daraa. However, no casualties were reported.

On the other hand, unknown gunmen opened fire on a civilian, working as a driver between Syria and Lebanon, in Ghasam town in the eastern countryside of Daraa, but the driver survived.
