With RPGs and machine guns | Gunmen attack SDF checkpoint east of Deir ez-Zor

SOHR sources say that gunmen, believed to be ISIS cells, targeted with machine guns and RPGs an SDF checkpoint in the town of Al-Shuhail in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, but no casualties have been reported so far.

On February 28, SOHR sources reported that two unknown gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a young man in front of his house in Al-Zar village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, which injured him. According to local sources, the young man is accused of “involving in looting and thefts after pretending to be an ISIS member”.

It is worth noting that SDF-held areas in Deir Ezzor countryside experience escalating activity by ISIS cells that attack SDF and the region’s residents.

On February 25, Reliable sources informed SOHR that two unknown gunmen on a motorcycle shot dead an old man in Al-Sabha town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. According to SOHR sources, the victim was accused of “communicating with regime security services”.
