Yahya bin Tahir al-Farghaly, a prominent sharia and military judge of HTS, known as “Abu Al-Fath al-Farghali”, made several new statements, in which he spoke of fundamental principles that HTS will not compromise regarding the form of governance in Syria, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has obtained a copy of these statements:

  1. “The arbitration of the law of Allah almighty and uphold his word.”

2- “Protecting the people of the Sunnah and the Jamaa with everything we can within the framework of what sharia allows”

3- “Following the means of jihad in order to uphold the word of God and arbitrate his law”

4- “Independence of decision-making and our jihad and not related to others, whether it is supporter or other”

  1. “Not to follow the deviant path of parliaments and the like in order to apply this goal”
  2. “Rejecting democratic and secular rule, as our religion is the priority”
  3. “Not to accept bargaining or even merely thinking about handing over one of our mujahedeen to an infidel whoever he is”

The statements of the prominent sharia and military leader of HTS sparked popular discontent among the people within its areas of control in Idlib province, after the public animosity between HTS and Turkey turned into coordination between them, as HTS allowed Turkish patrols to enter areas under its control and protect Turkish checkpoints in north-western Syria.

In addition to the great rapprochement between them in recent times within the so-called “de-escalation zone” and the HTS’ fight against jihadist formations opposed to the Turkish-Russian agreement, as well as talking about the changes in the policy of HTS and its leader “Abu Mohammed al-Joulani”, including its involvement in civil institutions and the formation of civil bodies.

It is worth noting that Yahya Taher Al-Farghali is Egyptian and a member of the radical Salafist group, was a member of the Islamic Group active in Egypt, and was imprisoned for several years for his involvement in terrorist acts in Egypt, and then he was released during the rule of former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi in 2012.
