Death toll update | Nearly 30 people killed and wounded in Russian rocket attacks on oil market and refineries in rural Aleppo

Aleppo Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have documented the death of four people, while 24 others sustained various injuries and burns due to attacks, with surface-to-surface missiles fired by Russian warships and regime military barracks, on an oil market and oil refineries in Tarhin and Al-Hamaran in areas under the control of Turkish forces and their proxy factions in the northern countryside of Aleppo. There are unconfirmed reports of more casualties.

 

A few hours ago, SOHR activists documented the death of an identified man and injury of nearly ten others due to rocket attacks with surface-to-surface missiles fired by Russian warships on Al-Hamaran area in Jarabulus countryside.

 

On the other hand, several rockets, believed to be fired from regime military barracks in Aleppo, hit refineries in Tarhin in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, which resulted in the outbreak of large fires in the area.

 

SOHR sources reported earlier that Russian warships anchored near the Syria’s coastline fired three surface-to-surface missiles near an oil market and oil refineries near Al-Hamaran area in Jarabulus in north-eastern Aleppo.

 

On February 27, SOHR activists reported explosions in north-east Aleppo countryside, as several rocket attacks, of unknown origin, targeted the primitive oil refineries in Al-Maza’ala village, west of the city of Jarabulus in east Aleppo countryside, but no casualties were reported.

 

While on February 10, SOHR activists said that five people, including three unidentified, were killed and four others were injured in surface-to-surface missiles fired by the Russian military base in Hmeimim on the oil refineries in the village of Tarhin in the areas held by Turkish-backed factions in Aleppo countryside. The strikes resulted in fires and significant damage to civilians’ property.

 

On January 9, large blazes broke out in primitive oil refineries near Tarhin village in areas under the control of Turkish-backed factions in the northern countryside of Aleppo. Reports suggest that the blazes were caused by a strike by an unknown drone which was seen flying over the area.

 

On December 20, SOHR activists reported hearing several explosions in Tarhin area which is under the control of Turkish-backed factions in the countryside of Al-Bab city in northern Aleppo. The explosions were caused by airstrikes by a drone which dropped several bombs on the area of the primitive oil refineries. The attack caused material damage and fires, but no casualties were reported.

 

On October 23, SOHR activists documented the death of seven civilians as a result of high-explosive rockets fired from the Russian base of “Hmeimim”, targeting oil market and primitive refineries in Al-Kusa village near Jarabulus city in areas under the control of Turkish-backed factions in north-eastern Aleppo.
