With live ammunition | Iranian-backed militias conduct drills in Al-Mayadeen desert under supervision of commanders of IRGC and “Fatemiyoun”

Reliable SOHR sources in areas near the western bank of Euphrates river in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor have reported hearing loud explosions in areas under the control of Iranian forces and their proxy militias, caused by military drills with live ammunition by the Iranian-backed militias in several areas in Al-Mayadeen desert. The drills have been concentrated in Al-Mazare’ area which hosts the largest gatherings of Iranian forces and their proxy militias in the region. According to SOHR sources, heavy weapons and live artillery shells have been used in the military drills which has been conducted under the supervision of commanders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Liwa Fatemiyoun. It is worth noting that these drills has been conducted only a few kilometres away from the US military base of the Euphrates river’s eastern bank.

 

On March 3, SOHR sources in the city of Al-Mayadeen in eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour, said that the Afghan militia “Fatimiyoun” organized a ceremony to commemorate the death of the militia founder “Ali Reza Tusli”, who was killed six years ago and specifically on  March 3, 2015 in battles with opposition factions in Daraa governorate in southern Syria.

 

The ceremony was held in al-Tamu neighbourhood in Al-Mayadeen city in the presence of high-profile commanders of the Revolutionary Guard, most notably “Haj Dahqan, Haj Hassan and Haj Askar”, in addition to the presence of prominent figures and delegations from the Iraqi Hezbollah, the “Asaib Ahl al-Haq” militia, the militia of “Sayyid al-Shuhada”, the “Al-Nujaba’a” movement, the Lebanese Hezbollah and the “Zainabiyon” militia.
