Security chaos | Two unidentified men found dead in western Al-Suwaidaa

Al-Suwaidaa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR sources have reported that two unidentified men were found dead near Kherbeh town in the western countryside of Al-Suwaidaa in south Syria. While uncertainty surrounds the circumstances of the killing of the two men.

 

On March 7, SOHR sources reported that repeated kidnapping incidents took place in Al-Suwaidaa province, as SOHR activists documented eight separate kidnappings in February 2021, and they were as follows:

 

  • On February 5: a woman from Melh village in the eastern countryside of Al-Suwaidaa went missing in unknown circumstances.

 

  • On the same day, February 5: an armed group kidnapped a civilian in front of his house in Al-Suwaidaa city, and they later asked for a ransom in return for releasing him. Local factions managed to set the civilian free nearly a week after being kidnapped.

 

  • On February 12: unknown gunmen kidnapped a child under the age of eighteen in front of his house in Al-Suwaidaa city. The kidnappers released the boy nearly two hours after kidnapping him, while the reasons behind this kidnapping remained unknown.

 

  • On February 15: a civilian was kidnapped in Al-Suwaidaa city by unknown individuals, while the kidnappers communicated with the civilian’s relatives asking for a ransom in return for releasing him

 

  • On February 17: unknown gunmen kidnapped a civilian from Damascus and living in Al-Suwaidaa city, while the man was leaving his work place in the Industrial area in Al-Suwaidaa city. According to SOHR sources, the kidnappers communicated with the man’s relatives asking for a ransom in return for releasing him.

 

  • On February 23: a young man was kidnapped by unknown individuals, while he was leaving his house in Al-Hayy road in Al-Suwaidaa city. The reasons behind the kidnapping of the young man remained unknown.

 

  • On February 28: SOHR sources said that gunmen on motorcycles kidnapped two farmers, while working on their farmland in the town of Ara in the south-western countryside of Al-Suwaidaa in south Syria, and headed towards Daraa. The two farmers were released after mediations by Al-Suwaidaa dignitaries and commanders of the Russian-backed “5th Corps”.
