After killing nearly 45 ISIS members in less than 100 hours | Russian airstrikes target ISIS positions in Syrian desert

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored, this morning, four Russian jets consecutively targeting different areas in the Syrian desert with intensive airstrikes, where Russian fighter jets carried out since the early hours of the morning nearly 25 airstrikes on ISIS positions in the triangle of Aleppo-Hama-Raqqa, and at the administrative border between Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor in badia, amid reports of casualties. Russia is trying to limit the group’s movements and significant resurgence through intensive aerial bombardment after it failed to eliminate it from the ground.

Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored continuous aerial operations by Russian jets over the Syrian desert, with intensive airstrikes targeting positions and caves of the Islamic State members in the area of the Aleppo-Hama-Raqqah triangle, specifically in the desert of Athraya and Al-Rahjan, in addition to the al-Raqqah desert and at the administrative border between Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa.

This comes as part of the Russian aerial operations in the region, where Russian jets carried out more than 55 airstrikes since this morning, killing 12 ISIS members and destroying vehicles and damaging caves and positions.

This brings the death toll of ISIS members to 43 killed in more than 280 Russian airstrikes in the past 96 hours.

Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR has documented the killing of at least 1,354 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least two Russians, and 145 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Homs, and Al-Suwaidaa.

Also, four civilians working in gas fields, 11 shepherds and four other people were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 841 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardment in the same period.
