SOHR sources have documented the death of a young man working as a “smuggler”, after being shot yesterday by SDF members stationed at a checkpoint in Al-Jaroudiyyah village at the entrance of Al-Malikiyah city (Dayrik) in Al-Hasakah, as he refused to stop at the checkpoint while he was driving back from a border area.
According to SOHR sources, the members of the checkpoint fired bullets in the air at first in order to warn him, and when insisted not to stop and break the checkpoint, the SDF members opened fire directly on him.
Reliable sources have reported that patrols of SDF stormed river crossings in Al-Shuhayl and Al-Hawayij last night and this morning, where they opened fire on ferries used for smuggling oil and goods via the Euphrates river. The owners of these ferries leave them near regime posts when SDF patrol carry out inspection tours in these crossings, as only people are allowed to be transported between the river’s banks through these crossings between regime-controlled areas and SDF-held areas.
On February 5, SOHR sources reported that Syria Democratic Forces stormed river crossings in Theban town in Deir Ezzor countryside where they dismantled pipes linking between the two banks of the Euphrates river used for smuggling oil to regime-held areas.
