Third attack in ten days | IED explosion targets Turkish forces in Idlib

Idlib Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR sources have reported an IED explosion this morning on the road to Al-Mastumah in Idlib countryside, while a Turkish military vehicle was passing in the area. The explosion caused material damage only.

On March 15, SOHR activists documented the injury of two Turkish soldiers in the explosion which targeted a Turkish water truck earlier that day on the outskirts of Idlib city. SOHR sources had said that an IED exploded in a water truck of Turkish forces on the road between Idlib and Sarmin cities in the Al-Sina’a area, burning the Turkish water tank completely.

Two days earlier, SOHR sources reported an explosion in the city of Idlib, caused by the detonation of an IED while a military column of the Turkish forces was passing on the Corniche street in the city.

A jihadist organization known as “Ansar Abu Bakr al-Siddiq’s Battalion” claimed responsibility for the attack, stating “A military column of the Turkish NATO Army was targeted on the south-eastern Corniche of Idlib city with an IED, in retaliation for the killing of the child Ahmed Yasser al-Abd near the border in the village of Al-Madloussa in western Salqin countryside”. Other sources said that the IED was detonated by Turkish forces after it was detected.
