Fearing ISIS attacks | Iranian-backed militias turn “Wadi Al-Meyah” area into barren land

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that Iranian-backed militias are setting fire to all bushes and trees in the area of “Wadi Al-Meyah”, known among locals as “Al-Khour” area, in Al-Mayadeen desert in the east of Deir Ezzor, disregarding the area’s residents, for fear of ISIS attacks on military positions of these militias. Such action has sparked popular anger after turning the area into a barren land, at a time when Iranian forces and their proxy militias are moving freely in the west Euphrates region which has been turned to an “independent colony”.

On Sunday, SOHR sources reported that ISIS cells unleashed an attack in the morning on positions of Iranian-backed militias in “Akhdar Mayy” area in east Al-Mayadeen desert, on the western bank of the Euphrates river in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. According to SOHR sources, the attack resulted in the death of two militiamen and injury of seven others.
