After being beaten and humiliated by IRGC-backed militia | Syrian young man sets himself on fire in Al-Mayadeen

Reliable sources in Al-Mayadeen city which is under the control of Iranian forces and their proxy militias in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, have informed SOHR that a young man from Deir Ezzor city working in Al-Mayadeen city has set himself on fire, after he was beaten and humiliated by the Iranian-backed “Sayeda Zeinab Brigade”.

According to SOHR sources, a verbal argument erupted between the young man and members of the local militia which is backed by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which evolved to the beating and humiliation of the young man by the Iranian-backed militiamen who took the young man later to the militia’s commander known by his initials as A.M. who also beat and insulted him. After the young man was released from the militia’s headquarters, he set himself on fire in a street in the city while insulting the Iranians and IRGC. The residents interfered and managed to extinguish the fire with water and took the young man to a hospital in Deir Ezzor city, as he has been still alive.

Yesterday, reliable sources informed SOHR that Iranian-backed militias were setting fire to all bushes and trees in the area of “Wadi Al-Meyah”, known among locals as “Al-Khour” area, in Al-Mayadeen desert in the east of Deir Ezzor, disregarding the area’s residents, for fear of ISIS attacks on military positions of these militias. Such action sparked popular anger after turning the area into a barren land, at a time when Iranian forces and their proxy militias were moving freely in the west Euphrates region which was turned into an “independent colony”.
