Coronavirus in regime-held areas | Nearly 500,000 infections and 19,000 deaths, while regime authorities continue misinformation

Over 67,000 new coronavirus cases in regime-held areas in a few days | Nearly 1,000 people die of the virus, while regime authorities continue misinformation

As SORH continues monitoring and tracking the escalating number of coronavirus cases and deaths in regime-held areas, reliable medical sources in regime-controlled areas have confirmed that nearly 67,400 new Covid-19 cases have been detected in the past few days, while 1,004 other cases died of the virus in the same period.

Meanwhile, regime authorities continue misinformation and keeping the real number of deaths and infection cases with coronavirus secret. Moreover, large number of deaths are claimed to be caused by pneumonia, despite the broad outbreak of the virus throughout Syria. Furthermore, no information has been reported about the vaccine delivered to Syria and the vaccination mechanism.

According to SOHR latest statistics, based on reports obtained from reliable medical sources on the ground in regime-controlled areas, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has approximated 552,400, of whom 337,000 recovered, and 19,991 died.

It is worth noting that regime Ministry of Health’ official statistics announced 18,046 infections, of whom 1,130 people died and 12,022 recovered.

It is worth noting that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the death of 172 doctors in the Syrian regime-held areas due to coronavirus in 2020, and they were documented by names.
