Assassination attempt in most prominent former strongholds of ISIS, east of the Euphrates | Gunmen open fire on director of “transport office” in Hajeen

Deir ez-Zor governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored, on Saturday evening, an assassination attempt on the director of the “transport office” in the municipality of Hajeen in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, where two unknown gunmen on a motorcycle shot at his car, injuring him with his wife.

Hours ago, SOHR sources reported that two masked men on a motorcycle shot dead a pharmacist while he was in his pharmacy in Suwaydan Jazirah in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. According to SOHR sources, the masked men ran away just after the attack, chanting “the Islamic State remains”.

Meanwhile, an unidentified gunman shot dead a man who had managed to smuggle himself from regime-held areas to Al-Shuhayl town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, via a crossing used for smuggling people and goods between regime-held areas and SDF-held areas on the banks of the Euphrates river.

As more fatalities are recorded and updated regularly, the number of people who were killed in areas within the four provinces of Aleppo, Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah and Al-Hasakah, in addition to the SDF-held area of Manbij in the north-east of Aleppo rose to 713 fighters, civilians, oil workers, and officials in service parties.

The Syrian Observatory documented the assassination of 252 civilians including 18 children and 13 women by armed cells in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, al-Hasakah countryside, al-Raqqah city and countryside, and Manbij area. In addition, 452 SDF fighters, including local leaders, were assassinated in the same areas.
