ISIS ambushes and landmine attacks | Nearly 100 regime soldiers and loyalists injured in east Homs desert in three days

Reliable SOHR sources in Teshreen military hospital in Damascus have confirmed that nearly 100 regime soldiers and loyalists have arrived at the hospital in the past three days, all sustained various injuries due to ambushes and explosion of landmines planted by ISIS, during combing operations by regime forces and loyal militias in search for ISIS cells in the Syrian desert, particularly from Al-Sukhnah area to Palmyra desert in the eastern countryside of Homs.

 

According to SOHR sources, most of the injured have sustained first-degree burns, while others have lost their limbs. According to a medical source in Teshreen military hospital, in Barzeh area in the north-eastern part of the capital, Damascus, the hospital has temporarily suspended the reception of more injured cases, as there are no beds in the hospital for new cases. Moreover, the cases sustained light wounds have been taken to government hospitals in the Damascus.

 

On March 26, SOHR activists documented the death of seven pro-regime militiamen and the wounding of three others in an ISIS attack on these militias’ positions, on Wednesday evening, in the desert of Oqayrabat in the eastern countryside of Hama. This development came in light of the ongoing and increasing activities of the Islamic State in the Syrian desert near Hama, Aleppo, Al-Raqqah triangle.

 

Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR has documented the killing of at least 1,381 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least two Russians, and 149 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Homs, and Al-Suwaidaa.

 

Also, four civilians working in gas fields, 11 shepherds and four other people were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 867 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardment in the same period.
