Aleppo | Turkish artillery fire hits Kurdish-held areas in northern countryside, and Kurdish forces respond, shelling positions in Mare’

Aleppo Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Turkish forces have shelled, with artillery, Kurdish positions in Menagh military airbase, Harbal and Mar’naz. Meanwhile, Kurdish forces responded to the Turkish bombardment by firing several rockets on Mare’ city which is under the control of Turkish forces and their proxy factions. No casualties have been reported.

 

Observatory activists documented earlier today the death of three Ankara-backed fighters, including two members of the Islamic movement of “Ahrar al-Sham”, as a result of clashes with Kurdish forces on the Maranaz frontline in northern Aleppo countryside, following an attack by the factions, backed by Turkish forces. Two regime soldiers were also injured as a shell fell on their post in the conflict zones.

 

Moreover, exchange of rocket attacks continued between Kurdish forces and factions, south of Azaz town in northern Aleppo countryside, where the factions blocked Azaz-Afrin road due to the exchange of fire.

 

SOHR activist had monitored an attack by Ankara-backed factions on positions of the Kurdish forces on Mar’anaz frontline in northern Aleppo countryside, backed by Turkish forces. Fierce clashes took place between the two sides, accompanied by intensive shelling and exchange of fire, amid confirmed reports of casualties on both sides.

 

Moreover, exchange of heavy machinegun fire took place between the factions and Kurdish forces in the south of Azaz city, but no casualties were reported.

 

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that Turkish forces stationed in military bases in the northern countryside of Aleppo have shelled, with artillery, the villages of Sha’alah, Zawayan, and Tel Madiq which are under the control of Kurdish forces in the area of Al-Shahbaa in the northern countryside of Aleppo. However, no casualties were reported.
