Armed attack | Unidentified gunmen open fire on regime checkpoint in eastern Qalamoun, injuring many

Rif Dimashq Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: reliable sources have informed SOHR that unknown gunmen attacked, this evening, a joint checkpoint of the regime’s military security service and air-force intelligence service on the road between Al-Dumayr and Al-Ruhayba areas in eastern Qalamoun in Rif Dimashq. The attack left three members of the regime security members injured. According to SOHR sources, the area has witnessed security alertness, while regime forces brought in military reinforcement in the area.

 

On March 25, SOHR sources reported an explosion near the town of Kanaker in western Rif Dimashq. The explosion was caused by the detonation of a grenade thrown by unknown assailants at a checkpoint belonging to regime forces stationed on the eastern outskirts of the town. No casualties were reported.

 

According to Syrian Observatory sources, regime checkpoints in the surrounding areas of Kanaker towns were tightening security measures on all people travelling to and from the town.

 

In mid-March, the town of Kanaker witnessed a mass demonstration on the anniversary of the beginning of the “Syrian Revolution”, during which the residents demanded the overthrow of the Syrian regime and the release of the detainees in the regime’s prisons.
