Promises of the minister Ali Haydar kill a Syrian prominent dissident by regime intelligence

The Syrian prominent dissident Oday Rajab has been killed today due to torture by members of the Syrian security forces. According the details documented by SOHR, Oday Rajab came back from Egypt to Damascus and lived in his birthplace in the countryside of Jablah city. He came back after promises given by the minister of national reconciliation in the Syrian government Ali Haydar of not being held accountable by the regime authorities, but he was arrested by the military intelligence after 2 months of his arrival, where he was tortured and beaten severely by the security members that led to wound him seriously in his kidney, then taken him to the hospital to die there after 8 days of arrest. It is noted that Oday Rajab is an ex- political prisoner who were jailed for 6 years in the era of the ex- president of Syria Hafez al- Assad, where he was arrested in the late eighties of the last century for joining the Labor Communist Party.

SOHR appeals to the UN envoy to Syria Mr. Stefan de Mistura to press on the Syrian regime to release all prisoners of conscience from the regime jails in order not to face the same destiny of Oday Rajab and more than 12000 detainees killed under torture inside the regime security prisons over the past 4 years.
