Assassination attempt | Unknown gunmen open fire on former Iranian-backed militiaman in rural Deir Ezzor

Deir Ezzor Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR sources have reported that unknown gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a former Iranian-backed militiaman in Al-Busayrah city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, injuring him seriously. The attackers also pelted the house of the targeted man’s father with stones, before they escaped. Meanwhile the reasons behind this attack remained unknown.

On March 30, SOHR activists in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor said that four masked gunmen roamed, in the previous night, on motorcycles Ishreen street and the market of Al-Busayrah city.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the masked people were ISIS members and they roamed in the area brandishing their machine guns, which clearly indicated to the fact that “Islamic State is still alive and kicking”.

A day earlier, SOHR sources from the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, said that members of a military patrol of the Syrian Democratic Forces attacked several people who were planting IEDs on the outskirts of the town of Al-Shuhayl on the road of Al-Omar oil field.

However, the people managed to escape, leaving behind motorcycles and IEDs, after which SDF stormed a house in the western area of Al-Shuhayl owned by an oil trader in the area, but he was not in the house. While SDF was leaving the place they were shot from several sides, but no casualties have been reported.
