Syrian desert | Regime forces and pro-Russian militias continue to comb Al-Mayadeen desert, while Russian fighter jets pound the area with more than 25 airstrikes

SOHR sources have said that regime forces, the Russian-backed Palestinian “Liwaa Al-Quds” and the “National Defense Forces” continue combing operations to comb Al-Mayadeen desert in eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside for the third day in a row, in search of the Islamic State members. Where the area of Fida Ibn Moin’a and its surroundings were combed in the desert, west of the Euphrates, and landmines were dismantled.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the campaign, which was launched yesterday, has not yet witnessed direct clashes between regime forces, loyal militias and the Islamic State.

Moreover, Russian jets are participating in the campaign, executing airstrikes on the area, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored Russian jets executing more than 25 airstrikes since the morning, targeting caves and positions in the desert of al-Mayadeen. No casualties have been reported so far.
