Al-Qamishli | “Military security” checkpoints and members impose levies on residents in neighbourhoods under their control, and “State Security” seizes new school

Al-Hasakah governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that gunmen belonging to the branch of “State Security” seized the school “Ibn Sina” located in the regime-held areas in the southern part of the city of al-Qamishli, and turned it into a “security detachment.”

The school is located on the opposite side of positions where the Internal Security Forces (Asaish) are stationed, and the “Supporters of State Security” militia and the National Defense and Military Security forces control several schools in regime-controlled areas in al-Qamishli city and its countryside, including Tal Odeh Al-Taweel School, Al-Takht and Abu Dwill, al-Damkhiyya, Fadil al-Hasan, al-Dalawiyah, Hamou, and Abbas Alawi.

Separately, SOHR sources from inside the city of al-Qamishli say that members and checkpoints of “Military Security” have recently escalated their violations against people in regime-controlled areas in al-Qamishli, by imposing levies on cars exeting and entering the neighbourhoods they control. As well as looting and stealing from residents, where “Military Security” patrols roam the Tay neighbourhood and the rest of al-Qamishli neighbourhoods and arrest people on various charges to collect money in return for their release.
