Security chaos in al-Sweida | Unidentified gunmen seize gasoline tanker, and attack the tanker’s escorts

Al-Sweida governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR activists say that gunmen, believed to be members of the Military Intelligence branch, intercepted a gasoline tanker, and assaulted the tanker’s security escorts near the town of Ateel, north of al-Sweida, and seized the tanker for hours before returning it to the “fuel branch.”

On March 18, SOHR sources reported that a man from Tha’la village in Al-Suwaidaa countryside was killed, while another man was injured due to a disagreement between several gunmen evolved to gunfire in front of a petrol station in Al-Hayyat village over the priority to fuel up. The murderer managed to escape, amid growing popular concern of possible armed clashes in light of the proliferation of arms among the residents.

It is worth noting that regime-controlled areas are struggling with acute fuel crisis and the escalating congestion in front of petrol stations, along with shortage of many essential products supposed to be provided by regime government via smart cards.
