Syrian desert in 72 hours | Over 220 Russian airstrikes kill more than 25 ISIS members, before launching combing operations in Homs desert

SOHR activists say that Russian jets have executed more than 220 airstrikes in the past 72 hours on the Syrian desert, just before Russian forces, accompanied by the Russian-backed Fifth Corps, started combing operations in search for ISIS cells scattered in the Syrian desert, which were concentrated in Homs desert.

The Syrian Observatory has documented the killing of 26 ISIS members in the airstrikes, which concentrated on jabal Abu Rajmin area, al-Sukhna desert and areas in north-east of Palmyra in the eastern Homs countryside.

Meanwhile, Russian media has said that 200 members of the Islamic State were killed in Russian airstrikes on their base in the Syrian desert, while SOHR sources confirmed that the elements of the groups’ members gather in small numbers. This Russian announcement may be in response to information published by ISIS in the past few hours suggesting that Russian soldiers were killed in the desert.

Moreovwe, military columns of the 25th Division and Russian militias set off from the Idlib frontlines and Hama countryside and headed to Homs desert this morning, to participate in the combing operations with Russian forces and the 5th Corps.
