Al-Julani’s promotional campaign of “countering terrorism” | HTS arrests an Arab jihadist in Idlib countryside

Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham continues its security campaign against jihadists as a part of ongoing efforts by Abu Mohammad al-Julani the leader of HTS to promote himself in HTS-held areas in Idlib and surrounding areas by “countering terrorism”. In this context, SOHR sources reported that HTS security services arrested an Arab jihadist in Darkoush area in Idlib countryside in the past few hours. It is worth noting that the arrested jihadist had been a member of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham, when the body was operating under the banner of “Al-Qaeda”, as it was called “Jabhat al-Nusra” at that time.

On April 16, SOHR sources reported that HTS security services stormed several houses in Ari village in the west of Idlib city, arresting three foreign immigrants taking them to their security centres. Meanwhile, verbal argument took place during the raid between women and the security members before the members left the village.

This development coincided with the ongoing efforts by Abu Mohammad al-Julani the leader of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham to promote himself in HTS-held areas by “countering terrorism and eliminating jihadists”.

On April 12, SOHR sources reported that security services of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham stormed Kafr Daryan village in the northern countryside of Idlib and clashes with in armed group, including several jihadists, killing a Libyan jihadist and another Tunisian one and arresting others, after nearly an hour of resistance. Meanwhile, the arrested jihadists were taken to HTS security centres. According to SOHR sources, the armed group was accused of “kidnapping and killing the minister of high education and scientific research of the Salvation Government”.
