Aleppo protests | Women demonstrate in western countryside, demanding the release of detainees in HTS prisons

SOHR activists have monitored several women demonstrating in al-Sahara town in the western countryside of Aleppo, demanding the release of detainees held in Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham’s prisons. The women lifted placards with slogans written on them read “peace be upon the fasters in the prisons of the unjust – To the dignitaries, media activists and free people, speaking the truth before unjust ruler is the best activity of jihad – It seems that the tyrants will send everyone speaking the truth to prisons”.

In late March, SOHR sources reported a demonstration staged by women in the town of Talada, north of Idlib, in which they demanded the release of their husbands and sons detained by HTS for belonging to the jihadist organization “Huras al-Din”, as part of the security campaign carried out by the HTS’ security forces, which target leaders and members of the organization accused of loyalty to al-Qaeda.

A day earlier, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored a demonstration by women of the families of members of the Islamic “Party of Liberation” in the town of Al-Sahara in the western Aleppo countryside in order to demand the release of their sons and husbands detained in HTS prisons, who were arrested over the past two months for unknown reasons.
