Al-Mayadeen desert | ISIS attacks regime forces, while Iranian-backed militias stand idly

 

SOHR sources say that ISIS launched an attack, in Tuesday early morning, on positions of regime forces and Iranian-backed militants in al-Tayarat area in  al-Mayadeen desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. Meanwhile, regime forces have fired flares after monitoring movements in the area, followed by violent clashes and exchange of fire between the two sides. The clashes left at least three of regime soldiers dead while several others were injured. According to SOHR, the area in which the clashes took place is very close to al-Mazare’ area where ​​the Iranian-backed militias are stationed. However, Iranian-backed militias stood idly..

 

Since 24th of March 2019, SOHR has documented the killing of at least 1,393 regime soldiers and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, including at least two Russians, and 149 Iranian-backed militiamen of non-Syrian nationalities. All were killed in attacks, bombings and ambushes by the “Islamic State”, west of Euphrates in the deserts of Deir Ezzor, Homs, and Al-Suwaidaa.

 

Also, four civilians working in gas fields, 11 shepherds and four other people were killed and documented by SOHR in the same period, from late March 2019 until today. They were killed in attacks by ISIS cells. While 936 ISIS members were also killed in attacks and bombardment in the same period.
