Security vacuum in Daraa | Unknown assailants shoot dead “regime collaborator” in western countryside

Daraa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have documented the death of a man “collaborating” with regime security services, as unknown gunmen shot him in Sheikh Saad town.

 

A few hours ago, SOHR sources reported an armed attack with light weapons on a car carrying members of the Air-Force Intelligence service in Da’el city in the central countryside of Daraa. According to SOHR sources, the attack left several members of the Air-Force Intelligence injured, some seriously. After the attack, regime security services were deployed in Da’el city and arrested several people nearby the site of the attack, along with the closure of markets and shops in the city.

 

Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 1,016 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 692 persons, categorised as follows:

 

  • 190 civilians, including 12 women and 21 children

 

  • 321 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services

 

  • 129 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders

 

  • 25 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces

 

  • 27 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia.
