Commemoration of “Quds Day” | Hundreds participate in march in Damascus, lifting Iranian and Palestinian flags

Syrian Observatory activists have reported seeing hundreds of people participating in a march that covered several neighbourhood of the capital, Damascus, where they lifted flags of Iran, Palestine and the Syrian regime, while others lifted posters of Qassem Soleimani and placards with slogans showing solidarity with the Palestinians. This march comes in commemoration of “Quds Day”, as the marchers headed to al-Hemaydiyyah market then to Umayyad Mosque.

The commemoration of “Quds Day” was first suggested by Iran, after the Islamic Revolution in 1979, when the leader of the Iranian Revolution, Ruhollah Khomeini, stated ” I invite Muslims all over the globe to consecrate the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as Al-Quds Day and to proclaim the international solidarity of Muslims in support of the legitimate rights of the Muslim people of Palestine.”
