In retaliation for child killed by Turkish armoured vehicle | Jihadist faction claims responsibility of attack on Turkish column in Idlib

Idlib Province: Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has obtained a statement suggested to be issued by a Jihadist faction, claiming responsibility for targeting a column of Turkish forces in the past few hours on the road between Kafr Lusin and Bab al-Hawa crossing on the Syria-Turkey border in northern Idlib, which left wounded among the Turkish forces.

The statement reads “fighters of Ansar Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Battalion  have targeted on Monday a column of NATO Turkish army by an IED on the road between Kafr Lusin and Bab al-Hawa crossing in northern Idlib in retaliation for the death of a child who was crushed in Nirab village by a Turkish forces vehicle. The explosion left several Turkish soldiers killed and wounded and an armored vehicle was damaged.” SOHR has not yet verified the authenticity of the statement.

Meanwhile, reliable sources have confirmed that a Turkish soldier was killed and more than eight others were wounded, some seriously, in the explosion. The Turkish Defense Ministry announced that one soldier was killed and four others were wounded in an attack on its forces in Idlib.

SOHR sources had reported an explosion on the road between Kafr Lusin and Bab al-Hawa crossing on the Syria-Turkey border in northern Idlib, caused by the detonation of an IED as a column of Turkish forces of seven military vehicles was passing, which affected one of the vehicles most.

Meanwhile, ambulances were seen rushing to the site of the explosion where they check the site and evacuate several Turkish soldiers who sustained various injuries, amid unconfirmed reports of fatalities. Also, Turkish forces cordoned off the area.

It is worth noting that Turkish forces came under several attacks, including IED explosions, gunfire and attacks with RPGs, by unknown assailants.
