Turkish-backed factions’ violations | “Samarqand Brigade” logs thousands of olive trees in Afrin countryside

Aleppo Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Reliable sources in Afrin countryside have informed SOHR that members of the Turkish-backed “Samarqand Brigade” have logged, since the beginning of May, thousands of olive trees planted in the inhabitants’ fields in the village of Kafr Safrah. The accident took place in presence of the farms’ owners in the village.

According to SOHR activists, nearly 3,900 fruit-bearing trees were logged by members of Samarqand Brigade and sold to the merchants of the firewood.

On May 4, SOHR reported that a military group affiliated to the Turkish-backed al-Sham Corps arrested two civilians in Kabashin village in Shirawa district in rural Afrin in north-western Aleppo, for “participating in guarding shifts during SDF control of Afrin canton”.
