Prisoner swap | Turkish-backed factions and regime forces swap prisoners in eastern Aleppo

SOHR activists have reported a prisoners-swap deal between Turkish-backed factions and regime forces, as a woman, two young men and other prisoners detained in regime’s prisons have been released in return for the release of several regime soldiers and the bodies of other soldiers who were in the factions’ custody. The swap deal took place at Abu al-Zindayn crossing in the countryside of al-Bab city in eastern Aleppo, under supervision of the Syrian Red Crescent,

In July 2020, Observatory activists confirmed that a prisoner swap took place between the Turkish-backed “National Army” and regime forces nearby Azaz city in northern Aleppo. Regime forces released a rebel in return for the release of a woman “spying for the regime forces and Hezbollah”. It is worth noting that the opposition fighter who was released by regime forces, had been arrested by Kurdish forces in Afrin and he was handed in later to regime forces before the Kurds left the city.
